ISU's student body represents all 99 Iowa counties, 56 states and U.S. territories, and 115 countries.

The office of Institutional Research (IR) is responsible for the collection, analysis, interpretation, and dissemination of university information to support institutional planning, decision-making, and reporting. IR annually prepares the ISU Fact Book, Common Data Set, peer comparative reports, and submissions of data to regulatory agencies and private publishing/ranking entities.

IR serves as a resource for university leadership, conducting analyses and coordinating data governance efforts to advance the quality and use of data as a strategic institutional asset.
